LCUSD Superintendent Update: March 25th, 2020

I wanted to provide you with a few updates from a conference call at 7:30 a.m. this morning with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). It was reported that currently there are 799 COVID-19 identified cases and 13 coronavirus deaths have been reported in Los Angeles County. LACOE also informed Superintendents of updated social distancing guidelines from the Department of Public Health, which now advise against any visitors to homes and any playdates for children.

LCUSD Superintendent Update - March 18, 2020

I wanted to share with you a status update in relation to COVID-19, our school closures, and distance learning. This morning, members of the District Leadership Team and I were on a 7:30 a.m. teleconference with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) and a 10:00 a.m. teleconference with the California Department of Education and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond. We learned a few things, received some distance learning guidelines (of which LCUSD is already leading and implementing), but were left with many unanswered questions. I’d like to update you with: What we know; What we are waiting to learn; and Actions we are taking.
