This weeks newsletter features guidance on buying a Chromebook for students in K-12, parent and student tech academy session dates, and a checklist for parents to get ready for back to school.
We've had two sessions already and two more are planned. You can review the past sessions on Classlink and other popular apps along with reviewing the resources. Also, you can register in advance for the next two sessions on supporting students at home and Google Classroom.
We have opened our pre-registration for families to choose a fully online experience for their students. You can find the details and registration links here. Our reopening committees are still hard at work in refining schedules and expectations for all reopening options. The Governing Board has set a special meeting for Tuesday, July 21st to listen to the final recommendations from staff and committee members.
Superintendent Wendy Sinnette addressed parents and families tonight on the progress and plans related to reopening schools. If you missed these events, you can view the slides here, and the videos can be found on our YouTube Channel here: https://www.youtube.com/lcusdmedia

On Friday, June 26th, Superintendent Sinnette released the second survey for reopening. Please check your email for her message and the survey link. The survey is open until July 2nd. Questions invite parents and teachers to weigh in on potential schedule configurations to support the Reopening Committee. A staff survey will be sent out this week.
The LCUSD Reopening section on the website contains the 5 focus areas, the Reopening Committee members and agenda, resources and readings, along with recent survey results from distance learning and reopening preferences. You can find this section at www.lcusd.net under District Info, or by clicking this article.
Please take notice that there is a vacancy on the Governing Board of the La Cañada Unified School District effective May 31, 2020. The provisional appointee will hold office until the next regularly scheduled election (November 2020), whereupon an election will be held to fill the vacancy.
The topic is Classlink and other district resources for students. We'll tour the online tool that helps manage all the apps our students use and show you what is available this summer. Register for the webinar here.
